Accountant Aide/Trainee

Under the direct supervision of a professional accountant or auditor, you would adjust accounting entries to correctly charge funds, verify accounting records for accuracy and compile financial information for reporting purposes. You would assist in analyzing and evaluating financial reports, and review federal grant terms and conditions, and apply those terms to financial reporting. You would assist in writing Memorandums of Understanding (MOU's) that relate to federal grants between various state agencies. You would prepare financial reports and track funding for various federal grants. You would compile materials needed for performance of audits; perform routine data gathering and analysis; prepare reports for audit purposes. You would run SFS reports and accurately identify catalog of federal domestic assistance numbers, program codes and activity codes. You would reconcile SFS reports to claims as well as verify that payments were correctly coded and grant fund balances are accurate. You would review and analyze settlement vouchers to correctly identify claim payments. Recording and reporting accounting information must follow general accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Experience with grant reporting is highly recommended as well as an understanding of federal entitlement programs such as Title IV-E and other federal categorical grants. Additional duties will be discussed in detail at the interview.

Salary Range:
From $37265 to $59542 Annually
Minimum Qualification
One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer. This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
